Good Work, Good Soul: OPS Furniture Gives Back

Bringing Christmas Cheer

The Christmas season isn’t just about the lights, the carols, or the gifts under the tree—it’s about coming together and sharing joy with those who need it most. On December 1, 2024, Bernie Palma, CEO of Selindra by OPS Furniture, along with a team member, visited the Aeta community in Pampanga, Philippines. They came bearing groceries and Noche Buena packages to share the warmth and spirit of the season.

A Heartfelt Connection with the Aeta Community

The Aeta community holds a special place in the heart of the Philippines. As some of the earliest settlers of our country, their rich culture and history are treasures we all share. Despite the challenges they face, the Aeta people are resilient, hardworking, and full of potential.

During the visit, Bernie Palma shared Selindra’s vision of creating meaningful opportunities for the community.

“We’re exploring ways to work with the Aeta people by providing jobs in our furniture production. Their craftsmanship and unique perspectives can bring something truly special to the work we do,” Palma said. “This isn’t just about charity—it’s about building partnerships that last.”

Giving Back Through Faith

This act of kindness was part of a larger initiative by the Apung Mamacalulu Devotees, a group inspired by deep faith and devotion to Apung Mamacalulu, or the Santo Entierro. As a proud member, Bernie Palma sees these moments of giving as an extension of his personal and professional mission.

“Faith has always been my guiding light,” Palma shared. “It reminds me that success is meaningful only when we use it to lift others up. This is especially true during Christmas—a time of reflection, gratitude, and giving.”

A Christmas to Remember

The smiles and gratitude from the Aeta community were the true highlights of the day. For families who often go without, the groceries and Noche Buena packages brought comfort and the promise of a more joyous Christmas celebration.

“It’s moments like these that remind us what Christmas is all about,” Palma said. “It’s not about what we receive but about what we can give.”

Building a Better Tomorrow

This visit was more than a one-time act of kindness—it was a commitment. Selindra by OPS Furniture believes in sustainable efforts that empower communities. From creating job opportunities to fostering connections, this is just the beginning of their journey with the Aeta community.

As we all prepare for the holidays, let’s carry this story with us: that even small acts of generosity can create ripples of hope and joy. From everyone at Selindra by OPS Furniture, we wish you a Merry Christmas filled with love, faith, and the spirit of giving!
